Case Study: Launching an Amazon US Brand (Results & Lessons Learned)

Tell us the story behind your brand. What was the ‘aha!’ moment?

My journey started back in 2019 when I began working with Reliable Education. I was immediately inspired by the community – hearing everyday people building incredible businesses and creating opportunities for themselves that I didn’t even realise were possible.

I couldn’t believe that people just like me were developing products and building multi‑million dollar brands online. I remember saying to my dad at the time, “I’ll never work for someone else again.” That moment really stuck with me.

But over time, I realised it wasn’t just about selling products. It was about creating something I’m genuinely proud of, and building a life that gives me freedom.

That “aha” moment has evolved, especially now that I have a two‑year‑old son. My mission is still the same at its core, but now it’s deeper. I want to show him that there’s another path. That you can create your own opportunities, build something meaningful, and design a life that allows you to be present for the people who matter most. That’s what drives me every day.

What’s your secret to standing out in a crowded market?

I believe standing out comes down to a holistic approach, but if I had to narrow it down, it’s how well you bring your product to life.

It’s not just about having a great product. It’s about building a brand that connects, creating something that genuinely solves a problem, and then presenting it in a way that makes people instantly understand its value.

For me, that’s where visuals come in. As an online brand, your product only exists through what people see on a screen. You can have the most innovative product in the world, but if it’s not communicated well, it won’t be perceived that way.

At the same time, I’ve learned nothing is ever truly finished. There’s always room to refine, iterate, and even pivot. That mindset is what allows you to keep improving and stay ahead.

Share your biggest ‘win’ since starting with eCommTribe.

My biggest win has been finally launching a product on Amazon US and seeing it resonate with customers.

Four years ago, I started a dog travel bed brand here in Australia. I was selling through Shopify, attending markets, and fulfilling orders from my garage. I told myself I was “just testing the waters,” but in reality, I was holding back. I’d seen both the highs and lows in the community, and I let fear keep me playing small.

I’m still incredibly proud of that first product – my dog even uses her travel bed to this day – but it took over a year to sell through my first order.

Fast forward to now, and I’ve built what I believe is a truly unique product and brand, and launched on Amazon US. In the first month alone, I sold more units than I did with my entire first brand.

That shift has been everything. It’s one thing to create something you’re proud of, but seeing customers on the other side of the world discover, purchase, and genuinely love your product is a completely different feeling.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve picked up from the Tribe?

The most valuable lesson I’ve picked up is the 80/20 rule. It’s helped me let go of overthinking and focus on what actually moves the needle.

Instead of trying to perfect every detail, I aim to get things to a point where they’re strong enough to move forward, then refine as I go. That shift has made a huge difference in how quickly I make progress. Because at the end of the day, progress always beats perfection.

What’s your one piece of actionable advice for a new seller?

“Walk in the footsteps of those who have taken the path before you.”

One of the most valuable parts of eCommTribe is that you’re not starting from scratch. The community is built on experienced sellers who are genuinely willing to share what they’ve learned – both the wins and the mistakes.

For me, the most impactful experience has been being part of a Mastermind. It gave me accountability, clarity, and the confidence to keep moving forward, even when things felt uncertain. Looking back, that’s exactly what I was missing when I started my first brand.

So lean into the community and join a Mastermind early. It will fast‑track your learning, keep you accountable, and help you avoid trying to figure everything out on your own. I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
