Starting an Amazon business can be a lucrative venture, but it requires careful planning and the right tools. This guide will walk you through the initial admin steps to help you get ‘Up and Running’ quick smart!

Step 1: ZonGuru

You can’t build a business without validating product and sales volume/opportunities in your chosen market. Step 1 is to set up your account and learn how to navigate the tool.  This is the creative ‘big picture’ part of the journey.

Step 2: Your Seller Central Account

Some people find this very daunting as there are questions to be answered in relation to your goals before you take the leap.  Working out your trading status – i.e. sole trader vs LLC, business names, accounting advice etc.  Step 2 is gaining the advice on the documents required, the questions to discuss with your accountant and understanding the process once you’ve gained clarity on your individual business needs.

Step 3: Alibaba

If you’re new to the platform it can be daunting to validate manufacturers, understand the listing lingo and even to approach manufacturers for quotes.  Step 3 is to get your account set up and understand the pointers to make sure you’re using the platform to its best advantage, negotiating appropriately and communicating like a pro!

Step 4: Facebook and Instagram

At some point in your journey, depending on the product you sell and your ultimate goal, you’ll probably find you need to follow the socials a little to watch the competition, seek out new opportunities and to engage with customers if you choose to build your brand outside of Amazon as well.  If you’re new to socials and just want to be up and running and using them for the benefit of your business – it is important to knock this step over early!

Step 5: Facebook Business Pages

Following on from your Facebook account, it's time to establish a Facebook business page from which you can transact business (sell product), communicate with customers, provide information and build brand awareness.  You can also link to your website when you’re ready!  Step 5 is setting up your account, your brand page and getting started in Ads Manager and boosting posts.  You may even end up enjoying it!

Step 6: Domain Names and Websites

Even if you are unsure if you want to expand outside of Amazon it’s a great idea to grab a domain name and potentially establish a full blown or even a ‘landing-page’ website.  Step 6 is to understand domain names, consider implications of naming conventions and discover where to get started with a template style interface.

Starting an Amazon business involves careful planning and the right tools. By following these steps and utilizing the right software, you can set your business up for success. Remember, building a successful business takes time, so be patient, stay consistent, and keep refining your strategy. Good luck on your Amazon selling journey!
